Senior Transportation

OVERVIEW & BENEFITS

The Senior Transportation Project (STP) provides van transportation assistance to seniors for medically related appointments, grocery shopping, mall shopping and social activities. STP helps minimize the isolation experienced by many seniors and increases their access to community services and activities.

SERVICES

STP provides door-to-door van transportation, by appointment, for adults age 60 and over. A wheelchair accessible van is available.

  • NEW! Shul Shuttle Service

NEW! Shul Shuttle Service Meeting spiritual needs is of paramount importance in helping seniors live well for as long as possible in their own homes. JFS has already transported people for the High Holy Days Shul Shuttle, and we plan to continue with once monthly rides to Friday evening or Saturday morning Shabbat services.

Lack of transportation sometimes tops the list of reasons why seniors lose touch with their congregations and the social support their place of worship provides. JFS’ new Shul Shuttle provides safe, reliable transportation to religious services at the city’s two largest congregations for riders with just a suggested donation of $5 for a round trip. We’re especially proud of our “door-through-door” service that gives extra help to those who need assistance getting out of a chair, locking the front door, and entering or exiting the vehicle and the synagogue.

We offer service to seniors age 60 and over and can provide transportation for those using wheelchairs. Click the photo of our new accessible van to download the Shul Shuttle Registration Form or call us at 505.291.1818 to register by phone. We are still developing a transportation schedule and can take your inquiries into service availability and service times and dates.

View our Art of Caring Grant a Wish video produced by Avista Video Histories and learn how the JFS Senior Transportation Project (STP) helps seniors stay independent, healthy and connected to their communities.

We want to thank clients Claire Jaffe, Susanne Love and Arlantha Lewis - may her memory be a blessing - for participating in this video that helped us raise over $27,000 at the JFS FUNdraiser on April 3, 2011. The video was shown followed by the live auction. The generous donations allowed JFS to purchase a Ford Fusion Hybrid from Don Chalmers Ford to replace an aging vehicle in the STP fleet.
