Emergency Utility Assistance
OVERVIEW & BENEFITS
The demand for assistance in meeting winter heating bills is extremely high among New Mexico seniors. Many low-income seniors must choose between purchasing prescription medication, food or paying their utility bills. This program is the only service in Bernalillo County designated to help New Mexico families pay utility costs incurred in the winter.
SERVICES
The Emergency Utility Assistance Program provides payment for one month of each type of metered utility service (gas, electricity, water and sewer). Limited non-metered utility assistance(i.e.; propane or firewood) is available.

We have distributed all the funds for 2009-2010 fiscal year. Please check back with us in February 2011 as we expect to receive 2010-2011 funding for utility assistance at that time.
