What's Happening NOW?
One Away Campaign
Over 13 million older Americans live in poverty or right on its edge, with annual incomes of only $22,000 or below. These seniors have to decide each day whether to pay for medicine, food, rent, or utilities. They live one missed rent check, one health problem, or one lost job away from financial crisis. Despite their struggles, their voices are unheard, and they face a frustrating system ill-equipped to respond to their needs.
One Away is an innovative, national advocacy campaign that gives voice to these older adults who are struggling to make ends meet. One Away is spotlighting the challenges facing millions of older adults in this economy by allowing them to tell their own stories on video. It’s also calling for legislative and policy changes to make it easier for vulnerable seniors to get the services and supports they need to remain independent and secure—from benefits and job training to housing and transportation.

JFS' 2011 "Art of Caring" FUNdraiser a Tremendous Success!

Rabbi Kantrowitz & Chaplain Friedman Motzi Prayer
JFS wishes to thank all the community, the generous donors, supporters and attendees who shared a very successful evening of fun and philanthropy with us at the lovely Albuquerque Museum of Art & History on Sunday, April 3rd.
The dynamic David Silverman from Seattle once again entertained everyone as our emcee and auctioneer. He partnered with our Board, staff, volunteers and a community who came out in force to support our efforts to help seniors and families in New Mexico. We broke records on donated items, attendance and funds raised and want to send our heartfelt Thank You! out to everyone!
Thanks to your "Art of Caring" JFS has a brand new Ford Fusion to transport our senior clients to their medical appointments and activities and our Programs have much needed funding to enable us to continue to provide much needed quality service! We are here because of your caring and advocacy and we appreciate all of everyone's contributions to our event.
